Mukteshwar is a scenic hill station situated in Nainital district of Uttarakhand state at an elevation of 2,286mts above sea level. Mukteshwar got its name from a 350year old temple Mukteshwer Dham with Lord Shiva as residing deity. Mukteshwar is perched atop a hill in a remote corner of Kumaon hills bounded by fruit orchards and coniferous forests. It is believed that Lord Shiva killed a demon at this spot and he granted him salvation or mukti. Jim Corbett, the world renowned hunter and nature lover came to shoot a tiger here and fell in love with its natural beauteousness. Mukteshwar temple and Chauli ki Jali are the centre major crowd puller of the town. Mukteshwar Temple: Mukteshwar is named after this ancient shrine which is visited by thousand of devotees every month. Lord Shiva is the residing deity of Mukteshwar temple. This sacred shrine holds enormous importance amongst the people of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state. Mukteshwar temple is situated atop a hill from where captivating views of Himalayas are distinctly visible. The Shivling is surrounded by idols of Brahma, Vishnu, Parvati, Hanuman, Ganesh and nandi at Mukteshwar temple.

Chauli ki Jaali: Chauli ki Jaali is also known as Chauthi Jaali. It is an adventurous place situated on the cliff behind the Mukteshwar temple. Chauli ki Jaali is famous for rock climbing and rappelling. Rock climbing sequence of the famous bollywood movie, Krrish was shot here. You can see the valley of Kumaon and splendid Himalayan range from Chauli ki Jaali. There is a natural lattice around the rock here and it is believed that barren women, who go through it on the day of Maha Shivratri were blessed with a baby.

Ramgarh: Situated 22km from Mukteshwar, Ramgarh is a picturesque hamlet situated at an average elevation of 1,789mts above sea level. Ramgarh is away from the hustle bustle of the city and it offers placid environs. Ramgarh is popular for fruit orchards and renowned excursions. Ramgarh was once the cantonment of the English army. The renowned poet Rabindra Nath Tagore and social worker Narain Swami established their ashrams at Ramgarh. Ramgarh is popular with writers and creative persons as according to them they are showered with fresh ideas at this place.

Nainital: It is an emerald lake situated at an elevation of 1,938mts above sea level. Naukuchia Tal: Naukuchiatal is a nine-cornered Lake and if one takes a glimpse of all nine corners at once, the person can disappear in a cloud of smoke. It is situated 20kms from Mukteshwar at an elevation of 1225mts above sea level. The lake is around 1 km in length, 0.6 km in width and approximately 40m in depth. It is the deepest lake in the greater Nainital area. Naukuchia Tal provides ample scope for rowing, paddling and yatching and bird watching.
